Teens Speak

Teens Speak was a Coalition event featuring members of the YAC.  Topics such as drugs and alcohol, peer and romantic relationships, technology, online image and body image were discussed.

Teens Speak:  "Expanding our view of what success means today"
with an introduction by Dr. Steve Treat of the Council for Relationships

The event was held on January 27, 2013 at Lower Merion High School and was free to members of our community.  The teens spoke about the following topics:

• Drugs and Alcohol •
• Peer and Romantic Relationships • 
• Technology, On-line Image and Body Image •

Teens Speak was presented by the Youth Advisory Council for the Coalition for Youth of Lower Merion and Narberth.  The YAC is made up of students from the following schools:  Baldwin, Agnes Irwin, Haverford, Barrack Academy, Friends' Central, Lower Merion High School, Harriton High School and Shipley.

  • Make a Joyful Noise -- A Benefit Concert Sat. 27 Apr, 2019 (4:00 pm - 7:00 pm) Community Event A Benefit Concert for Box Lunch and a Book and Heart for Uganda Featuring a multi faith youth choir, mult faith young adult choir, the Three Tenors of Zion, The Hatcher and Muse Singers and JDK (Jazara Morales, Danielle Muse & Kellye Hatcher) This is a free concert sponsored by Saints Memorial Baptist Church of Bryn Mawr. All donations are greatlly appreciated and needed. Light refreshments will be served following the concert.  
  • Deeper Than Our Skins Tue. 7 May, 2019 (6:00 pm - 7:15 pm) Community Event Join us for pizza, conversation and an introduction to our first book --  a graphic novel call The Shadow Hero. Participants get a journal and a copy of the book to keep! Register online at lmls.org or by calling (610) 642-5187. The present is a conversation with the past.   • Fashion and Design Show Sun. 19 May, 2019 (2:30 pm - 4:30 pm) Community Event Teen Learning Community presents the 12th Annual Student Fashion and Design Show featuring Live Music and Refreshments. This event is open to all students from all schools. All proceeds to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Americ In Memoriam Ora Reed Pierce.
